The Lady Colonel Magic Has Begun...Once Again, Heart Will Bring This Team To The Promise Land.

Well. I saw it unfold right in front of my eyes. First of all...What a season its already been for these girls. This is a different team than the past two for sure. Between young JV girls being capable of playing Varsity and The Varsity girls not playing to their potential, dare I say soft, there's been some tough coaching decisions to be made for sure. To be a Coach in that predicament cant be easy. It was frustrating watching these girls struggle to find the real mesh. Burncoat transfer Anitsy Robles, Jaiyla Colon, Naima Bleou, Bryan Bascones are basically each capable of taking over the world on that court by themselves. It just wasn't clicking for some reason. They needed a spark. And a spark they got. Pictured above is Freshman Phenom and All Tournament Team Selection, Lydia Charlonne. Draining 3's left and right. We needed someone to step up and all I can say is the future is here.

Next we played defending State Champion Cathedral who I had the pleasure of watching them win that title and what a team. We drew them in the first round of the Dracut Holiday Tourney and everything just wasn't right. Cathedral is big, fast, athletic...but beatable if South had caught their stride. What happened next was coaching 101. I never ever take this stuff for granted, I got to witness the post game speech which in sports, is sacred. Coach McClain is a different Coach. He pulls no punches. He's non stop trying to generate passion. Heart. This is his life. He uses an old school style with a new school spin. He's instilling the confidence these girls need to get to the next level...State Title! A couple different girls spoke up and voiced what the issues were and it was on the table...Was definitely a moment.

Two days later we got to play Dracut High which I personally didn't know what to expect. Dracut has had a tough year so far but always have a good program. When the game begins I realize that Coach McClain sat all the starters and went with a starting lineup of freshman and sophmores and they ran up the score. When the usual starters came in you could see something was starting to change. Tonight they beat Franklin High School by 30. They looked like the Harlem Globetrotters at one point against Dracut. That's chemistry 101. That's coaching 101. Stay tuned..I double down on my state title prediction now for these girls. LFG!
